Today we had a successful meeting with Persons with Disabilities in Kenegut. The meeting was facilitated by Mr.Nyariki from the National Council for persons with Disabilities.He encouraged persons with disabilities to: 1.Register with department of immigration so that they can get I.Ds 2.To form groups so that they can help themselves and the rest of the community. When my turn to speak came,I really stressed the following: 1.Persons with disabilities should not allow their disability to be inability when it comes to matters education.I encouraged them to make sure they get educated.Education is an equalizer. 2.Persons with disabilities should not allow themselves to feel or be stigmatized but should rather compete with other members of the society. I also urged them to join other members of the society in community activities. Thanks to all those who made the day a success. Disability is not inability.
