Today we have a storm called Andrea but 69 years ago today we had a world wide storm to confront. It was a storm that had it spread and left unchecked would have left a dark cloud of evil throughout the world. The world was able to brave that storm because 10 of thousands were willing to step forward and face that storm. They donned parachutes and even though they had expected 7 of every 10 to perish, they still jumped. They crowded into landing crafts knowing they would face unrelenting fire and a fanatical enemy who were determined to perpetuate the evil, they stormed the beaches and would not be denied. Many died that day but they helped part the clouds and bring the sunshine of freedom to those who had lived too long in the darkness. Many have left us over the past 7 decades but may their spirit always be with us as new storms gather on the horizon.
