Today we have some exciting news that we would like to share with you! Before you read this, just take a quick look at our little girl Millie in the picture, she is no longer here with us and understand why it is so important to us that this legislation is changed. If we can stop just one of you going through the same heartache as us, all this hard work is worth it ... Just a couple of hours ago, we found out that our petition has been given the go ahead to be debated in Government by the Commons Back Bench Committee. Our local MP Mark Hunter will be putting forward our debate in less than 3 weeks time, we will also be in attendance at the debate. This is an unbelievable achievement for us at Millies Trust and for every single one of you that signed our petition - you are helping to make a difference. Since the e-petition system was started in 2011, 27,500 e-petitons have been put on-line, 29 reached the 1000,000 figure and just 24 have had the go ahead to be debated, that is 0.088% - yes you read that correctly, LESS THAN 1%* and we have made it into that category, we are officially in the -1% minority. We would like to ask you all to write to your MPs, including everyone that has written before and make them aware that our e-petition is to be debated on the following date .... Monday 15th December 2014 at 4.30pm in Westminster Hall. Please encourage them to attend the debate on behalf of their constituents, that is YOU. They represent you and what you think and if you really want this to change, they need to be there on your behalf ... THEY ARE YOUR VOICE. Unfortunately it is often shown that MPs only turn up for debates when it consists of something that will benefit themselves, lets try and demolish this and encourage them to turn up to a debate that could one day save your childs life. We need to be persistent, we need them to know that this is something that you care about and something that you want. 102,000 signatures says a lot .... but unfortunately in the UK, this isnt enough and we still have to fight to make the changes that we want and need in this country. Please like and share this status to all your friends and family and encourage them to write to their local MPS about this too, This is our time to make a difference to your childrens life ... This is time to see Millies Law become a reality and you can be part of this change. Please leave a in the comments box below to show your support of this legislation change. Dont forget to please vote for us to win £5,000 from Ocean Finance. We are now in the final round and need your votes. Thank you to everyone who nominated us but now you need to vote as well.
