Today we honour the men and women and animals that served in war and continue to serve in war. We will honour their desire and commitment to something they were probably not fully prepared for - the destruction of cities, towns and villages, the lack of food, the horror of their mates dying, lack of medical care and some dying from wounds, lack of sleep and basic needs, the thought that they might not see their families and loved ones ever again, the thought that they might not get married and raise a family and grow old, the fact that some did not want to go and did not want to shoot and kill others but were forced to and those who did want to go but could not. For what you did for your countries, we thank you. We will remember you now and forever.
