Today we introduce the second contestant in this Fridays competition, Sarah Marie Dillard. Sara is a 23-year-old singer/songwriter originating from Central Illinois. She has been singing and playing the piano since before she can remember and has been playing guitar and songwriting for about nine years. Sarah majored in vocal music education for 3 years and is very excited to begin lessons with her first voice students! While she works as a patient coordinator for an optometrist during the day, as well as doing promotions for a local radio group and bartending part time, her favorite way to spend her time is providing live music for bars, restaurants, and special events, as well as hosting several open mics around Central Illinois. Sarah was raised on hymns, folk music, and oldies and still bases her own style and repertoire around these genres. In as far as her original style, she would likely be classified as a folk/indie artist. However, besides performing original compositions, she takes pride in having a varied repertoire ranging from folk to classic country, from the “golden oldies” to Americana, from indie to pop. Though she does enjoy tinkering on the piano, for live performances she usually accompanies herself on acoustic guitar. However, she is a sucker for a good jam session and loves collaborating with other artists. Live, local music is her passion, and she feels blessed to be able to share this passion with the art/music-lovers of Central Illinois!” We are excited about Sara joining this competition and know you all will love her.
