Today while reading Judy Blumes Double Fudge today the chapter is where the Hatchers long lost cousins show up unannounced to stay over. After Howie and his family are snuggled up in their sleeping bags in the living room, Fudge comes out and starts to jump over them and make a lot of noise. They dont wake up and sleep through it. Fudge asks his brother Peter if they are dead or not. Peter responds that they are breathing and breathing is an important part of life. They also go on to discuss how Fudge had wanted to be a bird breather (instead of breeder) when he grows up. I bring this up as it connects to the death of Eric Garner and how his last words were, I cant breathe. The gift of breathing is the gift of life.
