Today while shopping in the Dollar General store on Emmanuel Church road in West Columbia for some basic household items, that I normally shop for in this store, I encountered the most blatant racism one can experience. Now this racism did not only come from one of the other shoppers but from the employee who also relayed to me that he was the manager of the store. I picked up my items and proceeded to the checkout counter. The manager checked my items and bagged everything but a pack of tissue paper and a gallon of tea. I politely ask him if he could bag them because i do not leave a store with unbagged items. With a very nasty attitude he bagged the tissue paper but outright refuse to bag the tea. Well one might say this does not really display racism and I would agree with you except for the next thing to happen. Another shopper was at the counter, who happen to be white and he shouted these words to me Lady get your -ss out of this store with that Obama -hit. Now what our president has to do with me needing my items bagged, I do not know. Then he said, since Obama has been president you people have been tripping. Of course I ignored this person but the Dollar General employee begin to agree with this person shouting white power, white power. I dont know if the employee was tripping because of my Mercedes in which I drove up in and here he is behind a cash register for $6.00 an hour or what but I will not be spending another penny at any Dollar General store. I did report this and is waiting for a response from their corporate office.
