Todays Devotion Topic: Life Choices! Text: Genesis 13:10-11, 19: 27-28 10 Lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, toward Zoar. 11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company. 27 Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the LORD. 28 He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace. Amen One of the basic factors every crop farmer must consider before planting is the nature of the soil or field. Some fields look well-watered and conducive for fast growth. Other fields are rocky and dry. Abram and Lot had these two fields to choose from. Lot chose what seemed conducive for fast growth, leaving Abram no other alternative except for the less productive lands on the other side. Although Lots field initially looked envious, it was full of unanticipated elements that was soon to cause its utter destruction. Lot choose by sight not by the leadings of the Holy Ghost. Some people are fortunate to start life from good-looking and conducive homes, yet they end up badly. Others start life from humble backgrounds and succeed beyond their personal expectations. The race of life is not for the swift nor the battle for the strong, it is the Lord that shows mercy. Do not envy the seemingly good fields of others, even if your field of operation doesnt seem supportive of your dreams. Pray to God for direction, till that same land if God doesnt lead you elsewhere, plant in season and out of season, work very hard on the field and trust God for your harvest. The very same God that ordered your steps to a seemingly dry land will provide abundant rain and adequate sunshine for a bounty harvest that will blow your mind. Remember Isaac planted in famine and reaped a hundred fold. When ever you have a life changing decision to make, be sure to be led by the Holy Spirit. The seemingly good field you might be envying today may catch fire very soon if its foundation and aspirations has no place for God. Pray for divine wisdom to make excellent choices based on Gods word and to make the best of the opportunities that God brings our way. For the just shall live by faith not by sight.
