Todays Devotional from Steve Hills Daily Awakenings March 9 Im Warning You And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man. Genesis 6:3 A warning is a notice of approaching or probable danger. To warn someone is to caution them against anything that may prove injurious. For example, a farmer might sternly warn you to “get out of bed during harvest time! If you don’t pull out the combine and sweep the fields while the harvest is ripe, you’re going to not only lose the harvest but lose your family’s income for the upcoming months. If you don’t harvest the grain outside, you won’t have any grain for bread inside.” Many of us as parents may have the opportunity to warn a small child to “look both ways when you cross the road! Son, if you chase after that soccer ball when it bounces out into the street like you just did, without looking both ways for traffic, you could get hit by a car and possibly be killed!” The sharp commanding voice of a military officer would ring out the warning, “Troops, if you don’t keep your eyes on the enemy, if you don’t pay close attention to every possible form of attack, we are all liable to be killed on the battlefield!” The Word of God is full of warnings of a much more permanent nature. This one is clear and to the point. If you don’t do what you are supposed to do—if you don’t get right with God, if you don’t make things right with your neighbor, if you don’t get your house in order, if you don’t think seriously about your spiritual condition—there is coming a day when it will be too late.
