Todays Inspiration (To provide feedback, email us at prayer@princeministries.) Sunday, January 19, 2014 Strength to Persevere by Dianne Prince There are so many things in life that can zap your strength; negate your enthusiasm; interfere with your peace of mind; leave you with a pessimistic attitude and a negative outlook on your day and even your life. The stresses of daily life, uncontrolled, will rob you of your strength – a minor conflict with a child or grand child, a co-worker, a spouse or even a perfect stranger; too much to do and not enough time; lost car keys; a deadline at work for which you are not adequately prepared; a call from a bill collector; an undiagnosed illness; a problem that keeps repeating itself; and even slow moving traffic when you are in a hurry to get to an appointment. The list of stressors is endless. In our scripture this morning, Paul makes a profound declaration. He declares, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” We have all used this scripture as encouragement. We teach it to our children and grand children. We have them repeat It during their times of doubt; during times when their confidence is wavering; and when they are facing a challenge that seems bigger than life. Philippians 4:13 is a great scripture of encouragement for those who are struggling with their circumstances. Paul is not saying God will give you everything you ask for. But he is teaching you to be content in whatever situation life brings your way. He is encouraging you NOT to be controlled by your circumstances. Why? Because Christ gives you the strength you need to get through whatever circumstance you find yourself in. Paul has endured physical and mental abuse. He has been beaten to the point that he was left for dead. He has lived through severe torture. He has survived a lack of food. He has abided during freezing weather. And Paul endured all kinds of calamities. But through it all, he did not allow his environment to get the best of him. No matter what the need is, the need is NOT greater than God. No matter what the trial is, the trial is NOT as powerful as God. “I can do all things through Christ” is saying to you today you can handle anything life sends your way. Through Christ, you can adjust to those unexpected twists and turns with confidence. Through Him, you can accept the tide of uncertainty with assurance. Through Christ, you can have peace during times of severe lack and also when you have everything you need. Why? Because Christ will supply whatever you need. He will supply you with the wisdom to adjust to adverse circumstances. He will give you the stamina to “keep moving forward” until your change comes. No matter what the trial or the need is, God has the supply. There is no limit to the vastness of resources God has at His disposal. And there is no limit to the number of times He will provide for you. God has an abundant supply of faith for you. He has an infinite supply of trust; love; joy; peace; gentleness; humbleness; self-control; patience and long-suffering. Not only will He supply your spiritual needs, but he will supply your material needs as well. And until your needs are supplied, Christ will grant you the strength to persevere. “You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.”
