Todays NYT editorial is not as ridiculous as yesterdays article on natural gas exports in US diplomacy. But it still advocates exports even though they wont help Ukraine for many years, if ever -- since the issue is discounted price, not supply. The US should be promoting exports of geothermal heat pumps (GHPs). (Water Furnace GHPs are made in Fort Wayne Indiana, for instance.) This can help reduce natural gas for heating and eventually get rid of the biggest natural gas vulnerability in Ukraine (and Europe) for good. More than anything, the editorial sheds light on the relative strength of fossil fuel interests and manufacturing interests.
