Todays Surah: An Nasr ( Divine Support ) Bismillah: This Surah (An Nasr) was revealed at Medina after the migration of the Prophet (S) from Mecca to Medina. It contains the glad tidings of a great victory for Islam, after which, people, in droves, flocked to the banner of Islam. ( people coming towards Islam by group ) Then, to thank Allah for that great gift, the holy Prophet (S) is invited to Glorify and Praise Allah, and to pray for His Forgiveness. There were many victories for Islam, but no triumph was as important as the bloodless conquest of Mecca, especially the Arabs believed, according to some narrations, that if the Prophet of Islam (S) could conquer and capture Mecca, then, it was a sign of his legitimacy because if he were not right, Allah would not let him do so, as He did not allow Abrahah and his great force to destroy the Kaba. It was for this reason that the Arab pagans entered Islam, in groups, after the conquest of Mecca. Ibn Abbas says that when this Surah was revealed, the Holy Prophet said that he had been informed of his death and his time had approached. (Musnad Ahmad, Ibn Jarir, Ibn al-Mundhir, Ibn Marduyah). A hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas: When Umar ibn Al Khattab was the Caliph, he used to bring Ibn Abbas into the gatherings of the older companions who had participated in the Battle of Badr. Some of these old men were uncomfortable with such a young man as Ibn Abbas being invited to these gatherings as they had sons close to the same age. When Umar learned of their attitude, he challenged them by asking what was the meaning of this chapter (Surah Al Nasr). The companions gave many different interpretations and explanations. Finally, Umar asked Ibn Abbas the same question. Ibn Abbas narrates: I submitted that it implied the last hour of Allah’s Messenger (pbuh); in it he was informed that when Allah’s help came and victory was attained, it would be a sign that his hour had come; therefore, he should praise Allah and ask for His forgiveness. Thereafter Umar said I know nothing but what you have said. - ( Bukhari ) Lets know now Surah An Nasr with simple meaning. بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم শুরু করছি আল্লাহর নামে যিনি পরম করুণাময়, অতি দয়ালু। In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. إذا جاء نصر الله والفتح [Quran 110:1] যখন আসবে আল্লাহর সাহায্য ও বিজয় When comes the Help of Allah, and Victory, ورأيت الناس يدخلون في دين الله أفواجا [Quran 110:2] এবং আপনি মানুষকে দলে দলে আল্লাহর দ্বীনে প্রবেশ করতে দেখবেন, And thou dost see the people enter Allahs Religion in crowds, Celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and pray for His Forgiveness: For He is Oft-Returning (in Grace and Mercy).
