Todays Thought comes out of Psalm 46:10 Be Still and know that I - TopicsExpress

Todays Thought comes out of Psalm 46:10 Be Still and know that I am God Being quiet, it is one of the most forgotten spiritual principles that we have forgotten, and sadly many have never even approached it in thought or their “church” lives. True wisdom, and Wisdom in and of the Lord, comes from knowing when and how to be quiet. If we are doing all of the talking, we are not able to listen. When we take the time to listen, we can become quiet. This in turn allows us to focus on others, and in a spiritual context allows us to focus upon God. Thus we are enabled to listen and draw upon His infinite Wisdom. Yet, sadly, too many of us are rushing about or are what I deem spiritually fidgeting and as a result we can’t be still, seek out a quietness, and down load God’s wisdom into our lives. Imagine what the world would be like if people actually took the time to seek out the wisdom and knowledge that comes from being quiet before God? Sadly most people don’t even know where to begin. I recently saw a report that stated that the average Christian in America spends less than 1 hour a week in prayer. Many other Western Culture nations have even smaller on average numbers. This is a very alarming and disturbing trend. We have so lost our ability to just sit and be still. Satan and his minions have so convinced us that if we sit still too long that we will be knocked of the pillar we have placed ourselves upon. The thing is as Christians we should be seeking only to have the triune nature of God upon the throne of our lives. Satan wants us focused upon the world and not upon God. This is where the wisdom of being quiet and being still is important. Being spiritually quiet allows us to have our minds focused so that we can truly discern which voice is calling to us, and then we can humbly and appropriately follow the True voice of God. So as you spend time in prayer and or church today take the time to still your mind and spirit so that you can truly have ears to hear and in doing so you can take deliberate action to truly listen to the Voice of God.
