Todays announcement from the Nebraska Supreme Court regarding the Keystone XL pipeline reinforces that its time for the State Department and President to make a decision– how ever they decide – because six years is beyond long enough. But the right decision for our country is to approve the project. Throughout this process environmental studies, now a court decision, and other actions, have reinforced the benefits of this pipeline and the little impact it will have. As Ive said over and over, its a transportation project, like the thousands of other miles of pipelines that already exist in the U.S. In the Senate, we will continue to push to approve this project that will support our energy and national security because of the continued uncertainty from the Administration about its never ending timeline for a final decision. Its time to approve the Keystone XL pipeline and then move on, so we can talk about a larger national energy strategy for our country and debate many other important bills.
