Todays doxie share: So... Ive been doxie sitting the two wirehairs (Wes and Griz) for about 15 days nows and I absolutely adore these two love bugs. Weve been friends a long time and I have known them since puppyhood. However, as a smooth dachshund person, there are some perils of loving and caring for a wirehair that are foreign to me. For example, their coat. Grizs hair - especially near the hindquarters - is getting matted. Sigh. Wes not so much - thankfully. I do have a brush (not a comb) and I tried to brush her but... I think it just made her locks more frizzy than anything else. I probably need a comb. Also, theyre like debris magnets; theyre constantly bringing parts of the backyard in with them. Ha! I keeping finding little sticks on them and in the house. Well, my love for them and all the dachshunds remain steadfast but... I think Im smooth coat doxie person for life. Are you wirehair (and longhair) dachshund folks constantly grooming your lowriders?!
