Todays events in Ottawa, while definitely frightening pale in comparison to the activities of the FLQ in the late sixties culminating with the political kidnappings of James Cross and Pierre Laporte with resultant murder of Laporte by strangulation. There were a multitude of bombings and the air reeked of terror. The FLQ were highly organised and above all they were homegrown. Yes, they were radicalized , but not by the internet and not by jihadists.
