Todays historic Aquarian birthday #3: Lewis Carroll. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (27 January 1832 – 14 January 1898), better known by his pen name, Lewis Carroll, was an English writer, mathematician, logician, Anglican deacon and photographer. His most famous writings are Alices Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass, as well as the poems The Hunting of the Snark and Jabberwocky, all examples of the genre of literary nonsense. As a photographer, he regularly took pictures of Alice Liddell, who was believed to be his inspiration of the fictional Alice. One of these photographs shows Alice, dressed as a beggar maid. Newer research is doubting, though, that the fictional Alice is a full representation of Alice Liddell. Carroll often told fantastic stories to the children of the Liddell family, much like J.M. Barrie did with the children of the Llewellyn Davies family, inventing the Peter Pan character to entertain the Davies sons George and Jack.
