Todays psycho-spiritual gurus often tell us that everything will turn out fine if we just do as they recommend. Unfortunately, telling people how they should live, even when it appears to be good old common sense, has transformed very few people, and it certainly doesnt always make the world a better place. Often it only makes matters worse. Perhaps its time to stop lying to ourselves and others about what is necessary for real transformation. Transformation demands a willingness to see, feel, sense, and welcome ourselves as we are, often not manifesting, or not able to manifest, the love and justice and compassion we sometimes deeply wish for and speak of with so much enthusiasm. Sometimes it takes conscious suffering. And this is not easy to bear. Simple, direct seeing, yes! But seeing the truth of our thoughts, concepts, stories, explanations, and motivations, as well as of our inner attitudes and how we actually manifest in the world. Are you willing? Am I willing? A question each of us can only honestly answer for herself or himself. If we arent willing, thats the truth, at least for now. And the truth right now is always a good place from which to begin.--Dennis Lewis
