Todays quote is from the chapter What is violence?: Why do we have the perception that society is going to hell in a hand basket? Everywhere we look - except perhaps Facebook(!) - there is nothing but bad news. Media studies show that as many as seventeen negative news reports are aired for every positive story. Its not the medias fault. We care more about threat of bad things than we do the prospect of good things. Were built that way from the days when news of a tiger down at the waterhole was critically important to our safety.
