Todays story features our Scary England. When Scary moved to OKC in 2009 she didnt know anyone. She likes sports and thought roller derby would be an interesting way to meet new people. Scary is pretty quiet and keeps to herself. She remembered how to skate from jr high birthday parties and worked hard in New Recruits until she was comfortable with everything except the turn-around-toe-stop (that one was a disaster and terrifying). after a lot of work and seeing newer, younger skaters like Eliza Jukes You just go for it and attempt the turn-around-toe-stop at crazy speeds Scary realized she just had to go for it. and she did. there were a lot of falls....so many falls. but she got it. Scary made a team and realized she needed to learn to skate backwards (terrifying, no control) but she had to go for it. and she did. Scary made the All-Star team and realized she needed to do more on her toes (insane, so many falls) but she went for it. Theres a lot to learn with running/spinning on the toe stop and shes still going for it at practice when you see her. Quietly out of control running, spinning, hopping (falling). Ready to go for it? Come meet us and get started! This Tuesday, May 27th 6pm Skate Galaxy OKC
