Todays the worst day for people working in Singapore due to the #strike for toll price increment at the north of the Causeway. SMRT Bus Service 950 is currently unable to proceed to Johor Bahru due to bus strike across the Causeway. According to Singapore, if Malaysia hikes the price, they will also increase their toll rates. Currently, Private vehicles entering Johor via the Causeway will pay RM 2.90/ S$1.20 (RM3.07) and the proposed hike will be RM 9.70. During the Johor exit via the causeway, there would not be any amount collected at the toll. If Singapore is going to hike the toll price when entering, motorists would be paying RM 26.20 for using the Causeway. Effective 1st august, Singapore will revise the VEP fee on foreign cars entering from S$20 (RM51.26) to S$35 (RM89.71). Thankfully, the VEP is exempted on Saturdays, Sundays and Singapore Public Holidays between 5pm-2am on all days. To understand better: The current toll charges is RM 2.90 for private passenger cars (1 way). The new toll charges for cars is RM6.80 when leaving Malaysia and RM 9.70 reenter Malaysia. Current, This is the rough amount they are collecting: RM2.90 x 50,000 vehicles = Rm 145,000 (145k)/day. 145k x 30 days = Rm 4,350,000 (4 Million) 4350 x 12 months = Rm 52,200,000 (52 Million) *Can build a new causeway bridge every year*
