Todays train accident was totally avoidable, if only we had cared - TopicsExpress

Todays train accident was totally avoidable, if only we had cared to install barriers at the rail level crossing. There have been lot of accidents before in the same fashion where people died in a train - vehicle collision. Todays incident in which most of the victims were school going children has left me and Im sure a lot of people in the country depressed, disgusted and wondering as to what we need to do to prevent future incidents like these. We need to bring pressure on the Govt, on the Minister for Railways, on the Railway Board, on the Principal Secretary, Railways, in fact, on anyone and everyone who has anything or something to do with this situation. We need to say with firmness that such things will not be allowed to recur again, that this country demands accountability from its rulers, from its bureaucracy. Giving compensation to the relatives of the deceased is no consolation at all. No pecuniary benefit can ever compensate the loss of a loved one, a child on whom the entire life of the parent(s) revolves around. A real tribute to the children whose lives were snuffed out so cruelly would be to be united in our demand and resolve not to lose a single life anymore in this manner. I have started a online campaign through Change.Org petitioning the Minister for Railways to immediately ensure that there are no more unmanned railway crossings in India. Here is the link change.org/en-IN/petitions/minister-for-railways-india-take-immediate-action-to-eliminate-all-unmanned-railway-crossings-in-our-country-india?share_id=YFekDqcSEc&utm_campaign=share_button_action_box&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition Please sign this petition or start some other campaign or do whatever you deem fit to make your voice heard. NO MORE LIVES WILL BE LOST AT UNMANNED RAILWAY CROSSINGS.
