Today’s Reminder: Discipleship and Study As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ we are instructed to not simply take another’s instruction pertaining to God’s word as truth. The Apostle Paul tutored the historian Dr. Luke as they traveled and as a result Luke records a profound statement about the believers in Thessalonica. His thoughts are documented in Acts 17:11, “Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.” Luke’s comment reflects Paul’s instruction to Timothy, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Tim 2:15).” Today’s challenge is to encourage you to make sure you are systematically studying God’s word regularly.
