Today’s artist is Lynne Damianos of Framingham, MA! Who are you, and what is it that you create? Commercial Photographer (photograph architecture, people and products for business), who creates NatureScapes and BuildingScapes fine art photographs for exhibition/sale. Can you describe the time when you first realized that creating was something you absolutely had to do? In 9th grade when I saw an image appear gradually from a white piece of paper in the high school darkroom. What kind of creative patterns, routines or rituals do you have? On January 1st each year, no matter what the weather, I photograph outside somewhere between my home and studio to find something new to photograph, or something to photograph in a “new” way. Throughout the year, I make it a habit of searching for hidden gems and eliminating distracting elements by coming in close to the subject to create a photograph with strong visual impact. What is your favorite thing you have ever created? That’s hard to say, but one of my favorites is a series of images that I bound together in book form documenting “A Day in the Life of Feet.” I photographed the feet of many people, some that I didn’t know until the moment of photography. It was fun, and engaging for my subjects. What are you trying to communicate with your art? There are beautiful shapes and stories everywhere, even in your own back yard. Take time to really LOOK. What role does the artist have in society? Incite curiosity, create pleasure, start a dialog, make a statement. Where can we find more of your work?
