Today’s generation is under no obligation to worship at the same entertainment alters that we did. That we constantly demand they do and view their relative ignorance of our generation’s entertainers is a form of generational narcissism. It is that narcissism that feeds the endless remakes and reboots of the franchises that you and I grew up with. It is the that the entertainment we grew up with is automatically better than the current generation’s entertainment which is partially responsible for the current trend of force-feeding today’s kids the same cultural icons that we grew up with (Boy Meets World, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc.) instead of letting them find their own generational icons.
