Toll Tags are “In” in Tarrant County Most north suburban Dallasites have toll tags simply because it is just the mode of transportation for the northern suburbs. Tarrant County will soon have five freeways/tollways in which to use toll tags and there is a new rush to purchase Toll Tags. With little state funding for roads in Texas, tollways have become extremely popular throughout Texas major cities. The new tollways in Tarrant County area are: · The Chisholm Trail Parkway, a new 28-mile toll road from southwest Fort Worth to Cleburne. It is scheduled to open in one year. · Managed tollways – some lanes freeway; some lanes tollway. a) 114/121 in Grapevine, north of DFW Airport (under construction) b) 121.183 in Northeast Tarrant County (under construction) c) Loop 820 in Northeast Tarrant County (under construction) d) I-35W, north of Downtown Fort Worth (under construction) As of January 2013, some 315,000 Toll Tags had been issued in Tarrant County, a three-fold increase in six years.
