Tom, I am awake as I am also coping with an event that has touched my physical life this week, leaving me unable to move about without assistance. I know how much I have appreciated my husbands care of me as I await and hope that surgery on Monday will adjust the damage that a simple movement on Sunday when the simple, every day motion of standing up damaged a disc in my spine and collapsed on my major root nerve and bringing a pain (and circumstantial, sub sequential changes to my life this week. During the dark nights when I cannot sleep in this chair where I am sitting, I have followed your journey with April, and pictured you there in the chair in her room, longing for any signs of hope while trying to to will her way back to the life you had known together. I just wanted to let you know that both of you are in my prayers tonight. I always loved seeing your smiling face come into my classroom long ago and have enjoyed reconnecting with you via Facebook. I pray tonight that the Holy Spirit comes to give you the love, courage, strength, comfort, and power that you both need to face each new day.
