Tom is so glad our veterans are able to visit Washington thanks to Honor Flight of Southern Colorado. This Friday, May 2nd, Honor Flight of Southern Colorado will be taking its 5th flight to Washington DC in honor of our WWII and Vietnam veterans. 28 veterans will be traveling with the largest trip yet. Please join us at the Doubletree Hotel, 1775 E Cheyenne Mountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80906 at 9pm on May 4th for the “Welcome Home Ceremony”. Last Wednesday, April 23rd, over 200 people came to celebrate with the 5th flight veterans at our Pre-Flight Luncheon. The guest speaker was our very own Ed Bircham and the event was a huge success. Former Congressman and Gubernatorial Candidate, Tom Tancredo, Congressman Scott Tipton’s office as well as other dignitaries showed up to thank our veterans for their service to our Country. Honor Flight of Southern Colorado launched with the intent of sending our Southern Colorado Veterans to Washington D.C., with Peterson & Schriever Air Force Bases, Ft. Carson, the United States Air Force Academy all located in Southern Colorado. We are a predominantly military community and we are dedicated giving back and to transporting as many of our approximately 23,000 Veterans to THEIR memorials. Of all of the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nation—and as a culturally diverse, free society. Now, with over one thousand World War II Veterans dying each day, our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.
