Tomorrow, FortWhyte will be hosting an information session in the multipurpose room at RaY for a spring program at the farm. Doors open at 12:00 with the session beginning at 12:30. Any interested youth are welcome to attend. About the program: The spring program at FortWhyte Farms is an opportunity for youth to gain hands-on experience in the area of environmental sustainability and social well-being. The program, which brings youth to the farm once a week for 17 weeks, allows them to gain skills and broaden their knowledge in a sustainable urban agricultural context. Through working together in the gardens and greenhouse, preparing healthy foods in the kitchen, and caring for livestock, participants have the opportunity to demonstrate and gain leadership, teamwork, communication and other valuable skills. Student Activities at FortWhyte Farms: • Seed and transplant vegetables, flowers and fruit • Feed chickens and gather their eggs • Care for rabbits and pigs • Explore beekeeping • Bake and cook delicious meals and snacks • Prepare and plant garden beds • Work and learn in the Medicine Garden
