Tomorrow Ill be paddling in the Candlelighters Courageous Cancer - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow Ill be paddling in the Candlelighters Courageous Cancer Kids Dragon Boat Team for the eleventh year. Twelve years ago after the inaugural Barrie Dragon Boat Festival hosted by The Barrie Public Library I had the idea of putting together a team of families from the local Parent Support Group, Candlelighter Simcoe, Parents of Children with Cancer. They helped me a lot coping with my daughters diagnosis and the format the Library took with their festival, allowing local Not For Profits and Charities to raise money for themselves as or teams could raise money for the Library I thought it would be a good way for our group to raise money. For anyone who has ever been involved with a dragon boat festival knows that there are a lot of breast cancer teams that paddle and if a festival has even one breast cancer team therell be a Memory Moment to pay tribute to the Moms, Sisters, Wives, Aunts, Grandmas lost to breast cancer. For ten years Barries Ribbons of Hope has invited Candlelighters Simcoe to take part in this Memory Moment to allow us to honour all our Angel kids. Although my daughter has, touch wood, so far survived I know far too many kids who havent. The words to this song speak volumes to me and make me wonder if Robert Smith has had a childhood cancer experience ... some of the words , to me, are so stark and real. Consider also that he has played a number of Princes Trust concerts in the UK raising funds for a UK teen cancer charity. Speaking of stark and real. Thursday evening I finally get home after picking up Bubbaloo, open my email and see a notification that a local 17 year old whose family is connected to our group passed away Wednesday. https://youtube/watch?v=OQd01bO0OLg
