Tomorrow, Sunday March 9 is fast Sunday. I encourage each of you to join me in fasting. There are many great scriptural accounts of miracles and other blessings which come as a result of “much prayer and fasting” as Jesus explained to his apostles. I was thinking this morning about the 11th commandment, I am sure everyone knows this commandment well; the one which says that if we keep all the commandments, pay our tithing, attend church, go to the temple, serve, love God, etc. “all our dreams will come true.” Of course this is not the case and no matter our condition physically, emotionally or spiritually, we will and do face challenges, some of them very difficult. I encourage each of us to kneel down, open your heart to your Heavenly Father in prayer and begin an intentional, meaningful fast tonight through tomorrow. There are specific and special blessings awaiting each of us for our effort, faith and obedience to this wonderful Gospel principle. I also encourage each member of the Larkspur Ward to come early to church tomorrow and enjoy the prelude music 5-10 minutes prior to sacrament meeting, remember that we are now in the Larkspur building on 96th street.
