Tomorrow at 5pm, Dr Dallal Stevens of Warwick University will deliver the first seminar in our Trinity term Public Seminar Series. Her talk, entitled Refugee identity and protection in the Middle East: legal lacuna or political pragmatism?, will address the current problems associated with law, refugee identity and protection in the Middle East, particularly the inter-relationship between identity and protection. The Middle East hosts millions of displaced people, but the majority of states in the region are not party to the Refugee Convention or Protocol. Dr Stevens will examine the implications of this approach and ask whether international refugee law helps or creates more problems in this context. The seminar takes place in Seminar Room 1, Oxford Department of International Development, 3 Mansfield Road, OX1 3TB. All are welcome and no registration is required.
