Tomorrow, is my annual Thanksgiving Feast at school! This will be the 15th year I have been doing this event with my students. We host this meal and invite all of the employers and staff who work with them every day as a thank you. Today, we roasted one turkey in the classroom and drove the whole school crazy with the aroma! My kids peeled potatoes for mashed potatoes, chopped onions and celery for stuffing, and wrapped silverware in napkins and tied them with a pretty ribbon, decorated and set up the classroom for tomorrow. Today when I got home, I put another turkey in the oven and will also be baking pecan pies tonight. Tomorrow at 6 am, I will be back at school to put the last turkey in the oven. My students will be greeters and servers tomorrow and will put the social skills we have been working on into action by mingling and having conversations with our guests. We also have a thankful tree that all guest will participate in. It is a lot of work, but it is worth it - I think! PS - thank you Tish and Bridgeview Tavern for one of our turkeys!!
