Tomorrow marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the Battle of - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the Battle of Gettysburg (1-3 July 1863). This 3 day battle quite possibly had more impact on the outcome of the Civil War than any other battle. Whether you feel this was a war aimed at preventing the fracturing of the union or if you feel it was a war of northern aggression, your life today has been dramatically impacted by the sacrifice of 51,000 American casualties over 3 days. Not to diminish the great sacrifice during the Viet Nam War, 58,000 casualties from 1959-1975, these numbers do provide some reference to understand what happened during 3 days 150 years ago near that small Pennsylvania township. If you ever have a chance to visit The Gettysburg National Battlefield you should not dismiss the opportunity. It is, in my opinion, the absolute most sacred ground that we as a nation have.
