Tomorrow night Im speaking with Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell, former Councilmember Cecil Thomas, Reverend Damon Lynch, Iris Roley & Tamaya Dennard on police relationships with the African American community after the recent shootings of multiple unarmed black men by police in Ferguson, Missouri. I was a student at Xavier in 2001 when the same type of events occurred: White police officers shooting and killing unarmed African American men....leading to the unrest in April, 2001 and ultimately the historic Collaborative Agreement between the City, police department & African American community. The event tomorrow evening is sponsored by the NAACP Youth Council and will take place at the Laborers’ International Union located at 3457 Montgomery Road.
