Tomorrow starts the four successive Sundays of the Supreme Court administered bar examinations at the 402 year old University of Santo Tomas. Let me just reduce my thoughts this hour into writing.. My dear examinees, four years of college work to qualify one for the law school , additional four years for the Ll B. degree, six months of review with four intensive pre-weeks , may not be enough preparation to answer the questions, so the claim in defense against the uncertain. Take heart, stay courageous and keep the faith.. Thousands went ahead of you with outstanding results. But that is only the academic side. In this profession, that one can handle situations and the intricacies and complexities of human behavior be that of the most deprived among the marginalized or the most powerful of the privileged , can only be achieved in time, with good and unequivocal intentions for service , enveloped in a clear understanding and application of the law..There is always a beginning. I will be with you in the kindest of thoughts and in prayers whole day of these Sundays, with an ardent petition, ” that irrespective of your preparation those who are qualified to become lawyers should , by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit , and force of God’s time, make it.”. I heard my late father say the foregoing in the presence of my late mother who was a pillar of strength and uncompromised academic discipline. They stood by their six sons who all became lawyers. Indeed a record to break, to date, I say this in all humility and with gratitude ever. In your memory I entrust your grandson DonR. And to all parents .grandparents, sisters, brothers, uncles and aunts children , friends, etc, etc, etc,of the examinees, congratulations , happy reunion.
