Tomorrow we will be playing a New Orleans style funeral for Susan Farmer at Grace Church in Providence. We will be playing outside the church after the service. The lineup will be four horns and a snare drum. The fourth horn will be Rich Lataille from Roomful of Blues. Then after the service the whole band will head to Agawam Country Club to play the music for the reception. It is a huge honor to do this for Susan! She was a big fan of New Orleans music! If you do not know who she was, she was elected to Secretary of State of Rhode Island in two terms, from 1982 through 1986 as a Republican, and was the first woman in Rhode Island history to serve in statewide constitutional office. She then served as President of Rhode Island PBS until her retirement in 2004, and the Rhode Island Board of Elections. It really will be a great honor to do this!
