Tomorrow will be a blessed day. Sharika and I will get to see our 2 oldest kids walk across that stage together. Tamika has 1 down and 2 to go. Sharika has 1 down and 3 to go. Their oldest sons - cousins - graduate from Brainerd High tomorrow. They made it! Today we closed out our 3rd year of making things better at Brainerd High, thanks to the Maclellan Foundation. 100 percent - all 247 families we served there this year - stayed housed, with operable utilities. They even found new opportunities and greater stability through our Supportive Services. Even with that help, both Tamikas and Sharikas water service was off. Tamika just didnt understand the sewer bill, so she never paid it. Thats why her water was disconnected. Yes, we explained it to her. Sharika has multiple health problems and is facing yet another surgery. Her disability hearing is next month. Tamika lost her job and receives no child support for her 4 kids. 3 of them are at Brainerd High. Tamikas new job started this Monday. So, Moms, theres running water in your homes tonight. Those sons can scrub up, put on those caps and gowns, and celebrate this milestone with signature Panther Pride. CONGRATULATIONS!
