Tonight! 7 pm on the Hamilton village green: ANNALIVIA Annalivia is an American roots and branches string-band which draws from tradition and today to create their own brand of new acoustic folk music. The members of Annalivia Liz Simmons, Flynn Cohen, and Lissa Schneckenburger are all masterful players and have long histories with traditional music, ranging from bluegrass to Irish, Scottish, New England and Old Time Appalachian music. This background, combined with each members stellar compositional skills and cutting edge arranging chops, makes for music which sounds rooted yet contemporary. Folk and string-band enthusiasts alike will be drawn in by the expert vocals and songwriting, excellent musicianship, and innovative approach. The members of Annalivia are seasoned musicians and have individually toured and performed with the likes of Ruth Moody, Cathie Ryan, John Whelan, Aoife Clancy, Adrienne Young, Childsplay and Solas, among others. Annalivias latest release The Same Way Down captures the bands innate connection with American roots music. The album features traditional songs and fiddle tunes alongside stunning original pieces, presented with the bands unique style and inspired arranging sensibilities. This album debuted at #7 on the international folk DJ charts, with False Sir John reaching the #1 played song on folk radio worldwide, and the band #1 played artist in the Massachusetts RMR. THE BAND: Flynn Cohen: mandolin, guitar, vocals Ace Guitarist. The Boston Globe Acoustic Guitarist Flynn Cohen has performed all over the world with many notable acts in traditional and contemporary acoustic music. In addition to performing with Annalivia, he can be seen on concert and festival stages with legendary Irish Accordion player John Whelan, bluegrass band Tony Watt & Southeast Expressway, and his own group of acoustic string wizards, The Deadstring Ensemble. Flynn has also performed with Aoife Clancy, Cathie Ryan, Adrienne Young, Ruth Moody, The Vancouver Symphony, Christmas Celtic Sojourn, and Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, among others. He studied Music at Dartington College of Arts in Devon, England and at Mills College in Oakland, California and when he is not touring, he manages a large roster of students in his private studio in the Boston area. Liz Simmons: vocals, guitar A honey-voiced singer. . .Simmons sings with winsome ease and genuine feeling. Dirty Linen Magazine Liz grew up listening to her mother sing traditional songs from Ireland, Scotland, England and America, as well as the New Orleans brass music her father plays. Since then, she has developed a unique vocal and guitar style that draws from her musical history in folk and ballad traditions as well as the sounds of contemporary folk music, and she has also become a respected songwriter. She also performs with Long Time Courting, the John Whelan Band, and Hannah Sanders, and has guested with North Cregg, The Sevens, and Southeast Expressway. Her singing is featured in the film Time and Charges, written and directed by Grammy and Emmy award winner Ernest Thompson. Lissa Schneckenburger: fiddle, vocals Her talent lies in crafting pendulating melodies . . . innovative freewheeling arrangements... Dirty Linen Magazine Fiddler and singer Lissa Schneckenburger grew up in Maine as an active member of the folk community where she learned to play at the feet of some of the most venerable musicians in New England, and now she is one of the most well-respected versatile fiddlers in the northeast today. Lissa is a graduate of The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts (2001), and has played all over the world, including appearances in Russia, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, and the United States.
