Tonight I finally got around to enjoying one of my Christmas - TopicsExpress

Tonight I finally got around to enjoying one of my Christmas gifts: A Hard Days Night - Criterion Collection Blu-ray. Yet again, The Beatles (much like George Lucas) have found a way to get me to own yet another version of something that I already have. I believe that this is the third iteration of the movie that Ive owned (vhs, dvd, blu-ray), but its easily the best version. The picture clarity is outstanding, and the sound is spectacular as well. Its also got some really nice supplemental material too. All in all, I couldnt be happier with it. I also find that the older that I get, the more I appreciate and enjoy the film. First of all, Im an unabashed Beatles fan, so I was at least going to enjoy the music. I dont know that I necessarily got all of the humor or noticed any filmmaking technique when I was younger, but I definitely appreciate it now. The film was more or less the birth of the music video, and it gave every artist that came after a jumping off point. (I wonder if MTV ever paid director Richard Lester and editor John Jympson any royalties?) The Cant Buy Me Love sequence is the most obvious example from the film, so I decided to go with that one tonight. Although theres a higher quality version of the video on YouTube, I decided to go with this one based on how the video ends. For anyone that hasnt seen the film, it gives you a snippet of the humor. Its nice to know that although many things in your life may lose their luster as you age, some things can shine brighter and brighter. - Mr. Big #TheBeatles #CantBuyMeLove #AHardDaysNight #Criterion #Beatles #bluray
