Tonight I had a profoundly moving moment at work. I met an English girl who was very excited about my version of Princes Raspberry Beret early in the evening. She was very sweet and nice to look at. But shortly after I went to introduce myself to what appeared to be her boyfriend or whatever. They met one another during his Army stay in Afghanistan. She flew a zillon miles to America to visit him. But thats not the moving part. When I told him that my old band Pomeroy had done a couple of tours to play for the troops, he was nearly in tears and hugged me very tightly and said thank you with all of his heart. Even though he wasnt there when we were there, he was so appreciative that we had done something like that. He was one of the kindest people Id ever met since I started working at Howl at the Moon Kansas City. I shared the pictures from the albums that Ive shared here on Facebook with you all. He recognized some of the places as he too had been to some of them. He couldnt stop saying thank you hand shaking my hand. He said you have no idea what that means to us when people like you come to entertain and take our minds off of all of the things we have to do, or more importantly have to see. Its a great escape when someone comes and just makes us smile and plays the music we love so much... My life has taken on some pretty crazy stuff lately as youve probably seen here on FB. But nothing that Ive survived and been through can even compare at all to the things that these people in our U.S. Military do for us, our Country. Please dont turn this into a political mess with your comments. If you do, I will delete your comment... seriously. Im not interested in that stuff anyway, but especially with this post. This post is more about being thankful and feeling blessed that there are brave people out there doing the things that Im absolutely not brave enough to do myself. Heres to you guys. And thanks for all you do. If I was asked to go back, Id do it with no hesitation.
