Tonight as I say my prayers, thanking God for the blessings which are too many to name - I am so humbled at this wonderful man who has, since hearing about Cody Hayes fighting for his life, and subsequently succombing to that horrible word CANCER. Cody is fine. Cody is well. Perfect. Sitting with Jesus. Soaring with the angels. And, yes, I must mention, sitting by my Steven. But still hearts are broken. This man who, upon hearing about Cody Hayes, and recalling that he had gone to school with Frank Hayes, Codys dad, immediately knew that he wanted to do something more than his original donation of 2 cakes for a cake walk for another benefit, He wanted to keep on getting donations to help Frank Hayes and Alicia Hayes. He wanted Cody - yes in Heaven - to be aware that his memory was not buried with him. His idea was to bake a few of his famous pound cakes and have a few hundred $$$$$ to donate to the Hayes family for help on burial expenses and so many other expenses that come up at times like this. Orders for cakes began coming in - by text, phone call, just seeing Steve somewhere, by facebook and by word of mouth. Well over 160 cakes have been ordered. The cakes were for a $20 minimum donation. Some gave more. Some gave without wanting a cake. One gave $1000. Steve Hardwick has been in awe over this entire thing. I have as well. To see so many people open their hearts and wallets to help with Cake for Cody. Many did not know the Hayes family. But to help someone like this - we dont need to know them. We only need to know what is in our hearts and what God tells us to do. Steve Hardwick will say its not him. We know its Gods work - but it is through him. He has worked hard and many hours on Cakes for Cody. And in his spare time he has a very prominent business he has to run . Now I say to this new friend I have found through Cody Hayes - God bless you Steve - you are the best. And I know you are not looking for praise and glory - but you are going to get it. You have taught me a few things through this. And for that, I am thankful. God bless you dear man - I believe you are one of those angels that God puts on Earth. ............... Colossians 3:17 ESV ... And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
