Tonight, as yall settle down and get ready for bed, I ask you to do one thing. Please think about the freedoms you have, the ability to make choices, enjoy the finer things in life, to live in a society that allows us to think for ourselves, have an opinion that we can express, our freedom of religion, a government that for the most part is working towards improving our way of life, instead of seeking ways to contain and control us. We tend to not think about this, we just take it for granted that these abilities have and will always be there. But the rights and abilities didnt just happen, our military fought for us to have these rights, to keep us from a society and government that would limit us, control us, destroy us. And when asked to, we have defended the rights and abilities of other countries, hoping that someday, they too can live a life of freedom and choice. Many have paid the ultimate sacrifice, all served knowing that this was a very real possibility- but they served anyway. We can never thank a member of the military enough for their selfless act of commitment to each of us, but we can try. So tomorrow as you go about your day, please look for at least one veteran, identified by the hat or clothes that they wear, or those still in uniform, and thank them, they deserve it, and its the very least any of us can do.
