Tonight, my friend, Andrew Adkins is posting my version of , Dreams Of the Everyday House,..I was 23 when I wrote it,.I remember standing in the giant room of monument recording studios with my guitar,.dressed in jeans and a blue work shirt, I could have easily passed for a farm kid,..I wasnt,..I was a brash New York City street boy from Queens,.I had worked tirelessly writing a collection of songs for my first album on monument,..I had no idea I was breaking ground,.helping to turn the old rusty Nashville wheel in a different direction,.This song was influenced by the waltzes of Strauss, a famous Viennese classical composer,..my father, who was a classical pianist,.played the music of Strauss repetitiously in the house when I was growing up,.The great melodies of the classical composers got in to my D.N.A.,..I write from that bent even to this day...In front of a full rhythm section, and lush string section, I recorded this piece LIVE, IN ONE TAKE,..It was the way we made records about 50 years ago,..no time to dilly dally,.get her done...I was a boy when I wrote this among many other pieces which I will post,..but tonight, Its Dreams,.a song that became an American standard, thanks to the great GLEN CAMPBELL,.A true innovator of American music ..I remember thinking when I heard the beautiful string arrangement by Cam Mullins, a great old time Nashville arranger,.AM I DREAMING THIS,.IS THIS REAL,.I FEEL LIKE STRAUSS.
