Tonight the Bangor City Council unanimously approved a Resolve - TopicsExpress

Tonight the Bangor City Council unanimously approved a Resolve opposing the recent budget passed by the Legislatures Appropriations committee and calling on the Legislature to reconsider this so called compromise as it will create the largest property tax increase statewide in the states history. It is likely that the coalition of Mayors across the state will also join in public opposition to this budget and its cuts to municpal police, fire and public education. Everybody who is concerned about these issues needs to call their legislator to let them know that money for revenue sharing to towns needs to be fully restored. And the money is there- there are 400 m in tax cuts that the state cant afford that should be delayed. To put it simply what is the point of a $200 income tax cut when your property taxes are going up $400.
