Tonight the Roslindale Day Parade Committee officially began planning the 40th annual Parade and kicked off its annual Mayor of Roslindale Contest. MAYOR OF ROSLINDALE CONTEST 17th Annual Mayor of Roslindale Contest – 2015 The Roslindale Day Parade Committee is sponsoring its 17th Annual “Mayor of Roslindale” contest to help raise funds for this year’s parade. Prospective candidates solicit donations of $1.00 each, with each dollar counting as one vote. The winner of the contest will be honored as this year’s “Mayor of Roslindale” in our 40th Annual Parade taking place on Sunday, October 4th, 2015. For more information contact us. Registration begins by expressing your intent by mail to: ROSLINDALE DAY PARADE COMMITTEE, INC. P.O. Box 324 Roslindale, Ma 02131-0003 or email to: [email protected] Rules for the Mayor of Roslindale Contest To be eligible, candidates must be a current or past resident of Roslindale. Owners or employees of Roslindale businesses are also eligible. Those interested in participating in this contest must first officially register with the Parade Committee by sending an email to info@roslindaleparade or through our website roslindaleparade. To the extent possible, the names and addresses of all donors should be recorded on the Mayor of Roslindale sheets, along with the donation in the appropriate column, i.e. check or cash. The totals on the sheets must match the amounts turned in to the Committee. Donation by check should be made payable to the “Roslindale Day Parade Committee” with a note saying stating the name of the candidate in the memo line in the bottom corner. That way we know to whom the contribution should be credited and avoid the extra step of candidates signing checks over to us. The Parade Committee does not officially endorse any candidate in advance for Mayor of Roslindale, and it is possible that several candidates may register prior to the deadline. Please make sure that you avoid any language implying Parade Committee sponsorship or endorsement of your candidacy, although you should say that funds raised will go toward the Roslindale Day Parade. If you hold special events to raise funds or promote your candidacy, you are responsible for obtaining any licenses and/or permits required by law. The winning candidate must turn in at least $2,000 in order to have the option of riding on a professional float on parade day, Sunday, October 4, 2015. Please keep all of your receipts for your expenses and plan to turn them in to the Committee with all of your funds raised at the contest deadline. The winner of the contest will be the one who turns in the most money net of expenses, but we want to see the documentation of candidate expenses to maintain the integrity of this process. The deadline for this contest will be Monday, September 28th, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. The Parade Committee will instruct the candidates where to turn in their proceeds, sheets, and documents. This deadline may be changed at the Parade Committee’s discretion.
