Tonight was overwhelming in the sense that it was deeply humbling. There arent words that can accurately describe what it feels like to be part of an event where hundreds of strangers come together with open arms and hearts for a man that most of them have never met. Tonight was the first time I met him and I instantly fell in love, he was welcoming, gentle, kind-hearted...and I wish I could have captured the look on his face to share it with all of you who werent able to make it. For me, personally, tonight made my entire Christmas. If this is all I got for Christmas, I would be content. My daughter got to sit inside the news van and watch the story they put together, the excitement was tangible. I watched as his donation box was stuffed by one person after the next (the lights cost him $200 a season). Mr. Christmas may be going dark after 36 years, but he acted like a little boy with a cool new toy and it was so awesome to be part of a major community effort. Thank you everyone!!
