Tonight was school board appreciation night at board meetings throughout Texas. Each campus in Warren ISD made a special presentation and presented the school board members gifts of appreciation. I know each gift was appreciated greatly; however, one of the presentations really tugged at your heart strings. Mr. Swinney, the high school principal, has 10 students on his campus who have a parent on the board. He had these students attend the meeting tonight. He then spoke about each students involvement in the school/community while sharing how community service, respect, excellence, and compassion is taught through example. After this each child spoke expressing how their parent had influenced them before presenting a gift to the parent in appreciation of their service to the school and community. After this, I dont think I saw a dry eye sitting on the board tonight -thank you to each campus for your thoughtfulness! As a parent and educator watching from the audience, I know how hard each of you work and appreciate the thought and effort you put into recognizing the board members! Thank you to all for making tonight special for these men and women!
