Tonight was the Daddy-Daughter Dance at the school that my kids - TopicsExpress

Tonight was the Daddy-Daughter Dance at the school that my kids attended. Gabriella should have gone with her dad tonight. But, we dont get to have any more. Gabriella LOVED going to Daddy-Daughter dances. She was four-years old the first time I signed them up to go to a dance. And that was it for Gabriella. She couldnt get enough of them. She got to dress up in her beautiful gowns. She got to go on a date with her dad - all by herself, like a grown up only better. Gabriella would say, Im like a princess and Daddy is my prince. We would do her hair and her nails. GG would have her little purse with her lipgloss. But, the very best part was that she got to spend time alone with her dad. In the end of August 2013 we were told that Gabriellas tumor had started to grow back. As everyone in the cancer world knows, when there is a reoccurrence or re-growth the survival chance drops exponentially. This is especially so for the cancer that Gabriella had, DIPG. We knew that our remaining time with our precious girl was running out. We didnt know how much longer we would have Gabriella nor what would happen to her as her cancer took over. All that we knew was that when her tumor started to grow again it would grow with a vengeance. One of our dearest and closest friend, David, knew of Gabriellas love of Daddy-Daughter dances and approached us with he idea of planning a surprise Daddy-Daughter dance birthday party for Mark. David (and Gabriella) planned the party. The location, the guest list, the music, the games. Everything. When Mark came home from work (at the appropriate time) Gabriella was dressed and ready for him. A very surprised Mark followed directions to take him to his special Daddy-Daughter dance birthday party. Gabriella later told me that it was the best weekend of her life. It was this weekend that she was interviewed by Mike Gillette for TheTruth365 where she said, Talk is bullshit! We need action! in response to the question about what she would like to say to our political officials. That night Gabriella and I went to her first concert, Selena Gomez. And, the following day she got to be a college student. She spent a full day going to classes then earned her honorary college degree from Shenandoah University. She closed out the unbelievable weekend with her Daddy-Daughter dance. Two weeks later Gabriella died. Two days after Gabriella died was Marks birthday. I will forever be grateful that they had their last dance together and that Gabriella gave Mark that incredibly special birthday gift. We miss you, Dolly. We love you. Always and forever. #ItsNotOk #GabriellaMiller #TalkIsBullshit #SmashingWalnuts
