Tonights performance of Peter Pan was a trip down memory lane for - TopicsExpress

Tonights performance of Peter Pan was a trip down memory lane for me. Fifty-two years ago, I was the Assistant Technical Director at Civic Theater in Fort Wayne. This show was one of the last productions I worked on prior to starting work with RCA. Flying Peter was not an easy task. She was a middle-aged matron who weighed between 170-190 pounds, and we used nothing but sheer weight and physics to make Peter fly. I tripped the harness so I had a 2:1 advantage, but it meant that for me to get Peter 10 feet off the floor, I had to climb 20 feet of rope! I ended up jumping off the ladder to the fly loft for the opening scene, and did a modified jump of that nature for every entrance Peter made on stage. Those were the days!
